Protect Malaysian Wildlife - please sign this petition

Malaysia's Protection of Wild Life Act 1972 is a 35-year-old law that is severely outdated and riddled with loopholes. The Malaysian Nature Society, TRAFFIC Southeast Asia, Wildlife Conservation Society and WWF-Malaysia are jointly calling for better law for wildlife in Peninsular Malaysia. Please support their petition.

Thanks for the link. Signed it already.

Just a matter of curiosity, are there laws protecting wildlife in East Malaysia as well?

To respond to Michelle's question: Yes, there are. Both Sabah and Sarawak have their own legislation to protect wildlife that are actually much better (although still not perfect) than Peninsular Malaysia's Protection of Wildlife Act 1972 (PWA). The Sabah Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997 and the Sarawak Wildlife Protection Ordinance 1998 have also addressed some of the loophole issues that the PWA still has. Thanks, Chi Chang, for posting the appeal to sign the petition, and thanks to Abi, Michelle, and everyone else who has already signed!
